You may be wondering where I have been for the past month. Well, I went back to school. I’ve decided to return to college to pursue my masters in Occupational Therapy. I am very excited about this career change, but with the studying, homework and the kids going back to school — I seemed to be a little drained of my creative juices. That, and my sewing machine is in the shop 🙂
At any rate, the other day Terry and I decided to take some time for ourselves. The plan was to head on up to Gettysburg, bring along my college textbooks, and lounge about on a picnic blanket – he resting while I study. On the way there, we start talking about different classic rock groups (in my mind, they will always be from the 60’s and 70’s – never the 80’s, no matter what my kids say!) We started talking about The Doors. I’m a fan, but Terry dislikes Jim Morrison. One of Morrison’s monikers was “The Lizard King” and BAM! I saw an image of The Doors’ front man, done entirely in lizard prints. We never made it to Gettysburg – I hung a right and we went to the local fabric store to get some pieces. Terry is such a good sport, he even came inside to help me look.
This is the result, although I haven’t been able to stitch it down yet because my sewing machine is still out of commission. What I can’t decide is if the final result will look more like Bon Jovi than Morrison. Are my ’80’s colors showing through? What do you think?
